Indian Food

I went to my friend's Indian restaurant yesterday. I had chicken curry and rice. It was delicious. Although I went alone, I wound up having a companion. A nice guy (who was sort of a hippie) sat down next to me. We chatted about his medicinal marijuana grow and his pets (he has a llama, a dog, two cats, and a parrot). I think I might have a dating prospect on my hands...

Anyway, since I just had curry, I think I'll share my curry recipe with you:

3 tbs flour
1.5 tbs vegetable oil
1 cup cooked chicken
1/2 Cup diced onion
1.5 tsp curry powder
.5 tsp of nutmeg
.5 tsp of caraway
1 cup chicken stock

1. Heat oil and add onion and spices, cook for 3 minutes.
2. Add flour and cook one minute.
3. Add the rest of the ingredients and cook until thick.
4. Put lid on and simmer for 2 - 4 hours. This is the secret to good curry.

Postal Grit

I saw True Grit today. I also went to the post office.

I really enjoyed the film. There is nothing like a boyish girl and a rotting man to get your eyes going. Jeff Bridge's performance was astounding. He really channeled Portis' "Rooster" well. The 19th century American justice system is intriguing. As much as I would love to be an attorney, I think I would have been a sheriff back then.

The post office was not so enjoyable. Long lines and rancid 'gines. That's right. The woman in front of me had a yeast infection that would put even the most unsanitary hookers to shame. I could almost seeing the fungi clawing at the cloth that contained them, as an army of gnats circled above.

I did get some nice stamps though! The 2011 Forever stamps to be specific! They look damn spiffy, if I do say so myself.

Glasses, Gizzards, and Golden Suns

I went to the optometrist today. Luckily my prescription has not changed! (For those who are wondering, I wear glasses for reading) I did get a cute set of frame for my lenses though. No, they are not Gucci. But they are amazingly cute and make me look professional! I'll post pictures, if I ever get the time.

Gizzards...the word is in the title. Did I do anything gizzard related today? Absolutely not!

Golden Suns! Well, one Golden Sun. I bought Golden Sun 3 for the Nintendo DS. I'm not really a gamer, but I love DS games. This game is amazing. I might do a review sometime down the line.

On a different note, I start school again in a week or so! Eek!

Cousin's Surgery

My cousin had surgery on his shoulder today. So, being the good cousin that I am, I brought him lunch. What did I bring for lunch? Well I will tell you! ...I brought him pasta with marinara sauce. The sauce was made using my grandma's recipe. I will share it, since I love my readers so much.

Grandma's Marinara Recipe
2 tablespoons fresh parsley
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 can crushed tomatoes
2 tablespoons fresh oregano
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1 can tomato puree
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

In addition to visiting my cousin today, I always met up with a friend of mine. His English name is Max, and he is a foreign exchange student from China. He taught me a few phrases of Mandarin. I had him write them down, in English and Mandarin, and I will share them.

Hello - 你好      I don't have too much trouble saying this one. :-D

How are you? - 你好吗   I can't say that one worth a darn.

Law school is difficult and stressful. - 法学院是非常难进入 它也是非常紧张的 I couldn't say that one at all. :(

Business Law: Text and Cases by Clarkson, Miller, and Cross

As I mentioned earlier, I am passionate about law. Appropriately, I also spend a lot of time reading books on law. Before you wonder where I get all the money to buy these, let me explain. In short, my uncle owns an independent bookstore, and he allows me to 'borrow' some of the inventory for a week or two.

Anyway, the book I am reviewing is "Business Law: Text and Cases" by Clarkson, Miller, and Cross. Oh, and let me explain that is a very, very informal review. In fact, it's not really a review. It's a few thoughts. That's all. That said, I really enjoyed the book. Being an undergraduate, I have not taken an actual law school courses, yet I found this material very approachable. Granted, I have done quite a bit of law reading in my life. Also, the cases were very interesting and well presented. There is quite a variety of knowledge in the text, supplying the reader with cases regarding everything from the constitution to internet crimes. My one complaint is that the book could be a little bit more concise.

Phe Tresident Smit Quoking

A bit about me: sometimes I am pessimistic and paranoid. On a different note, apparently President Obama has quit smoking once and for all. I guess it's been 9 months since his last cigarette. This is good, of course.

My First Entry

It is December 26th, 2010, and this is my first entry in my blog on law and life. I promise to keep all entries brief yet thorough, and I promise to make them fairly frequently. I have some interesting hobbies, so expect to hear about them. I also spend time reading law books in my spare time, so you might see some reviews.
